As we age, the effects of prolonged sun exposure, poor diet, pollution and smoking all take their toll on our skin. This is characterised by a thinning of the epidermis and dermis, coarse skin texture, wrinkling, and changes in pigmentation. Collagen and elastin, the tough fibrous proteins present in our skin giving it its texture and elasticity, are damaged and their rate of reproduction slows.
Skin rejuvenation treatments involve the use of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL/VPL) or lasers which stimulate collagen and elastin production deep within the dermis, increasing skin elasticity and strength, making the skin look softer and smoother. This safe, simple technique improves skin texture and colour, whilst reducing pore size, fine lines and wrinkles.
Skin rejuvenation can be performed on the face, neck, décolleté area and on hands, resulting in dramatic improvements in the appearance of the skin.
When it comes to skin rejuvenation treatment, UK Manufacturer Energist offers effective treatment solutions for safe and effective skin rejuvenation using intense pulsed light, laser and plasma technologies. We have been designing and manufacturing lasers for 30 years and IPL systems for 15 years. All of our laser & pulsed light systems, which are used by professionals worldwide, are FDA cleared and pass stringent testing and inspections to be badged as CE marked medical products along with CSA and Health Canada Approvals.
How It Works
Fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores
Collagen and elastin are the substances in our bodies that keep our skin looking youthful and smooth. As we age, our bodies naturally produce less and less collagen and elastin, resulting in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and enlarged pore size.
Energist Medical Group offers a range of treatment modalities for safe and effective skin rejuvenation.
- Sun Spot Treatment
- Age Spot Treatment
- Acne Treatment
- Vascular lesion
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Variable Pulsed Light (VPL™)
The carefully filtered yellow light emitted from Energist IPL and VPL™ technologies is absorbed by certain structures within the skin. The resultant momentary heating stimulates cells in the body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen. The new collagen moves outwards to the skin’s surface resulting in a smoother texture, smaller pore size and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
VPL – Variable Pulsed Light
UltraPLUS is a multi-application system using world renowned and patented Variable Pulsed Light VPL™ technology, only available from Energist Medical Group. This compact and versatile system can safely deliver very high energy at the speed necessary to break up pigmented lesions effectively. With variable pulses, dual filtering and targeted wavelengths, UltraPLUS VPL can be used for successful skin rejuvenation on the face, neck, décolleté and hands. Hair removal, sun and age spots, vascular applications, and the treatment of active acne are also possible using UltraPLUS.

Are There Any Side-Effects with VPL/IPL Treatments?
Your skin type, specific condition and sensitivity to the treatment will be assessed by your therapist. Due to the personalised treatment settings determined by your therapist during consultation, you should not experience any side-effects. A slight reddening of the skin can occur immediately after your treatment this is an indication of an effective treatment and will fade very quickly.
How Many Treatments Will I Require?
In most cases results can be seen after just four to eight treatments, however, your therapist will advise you on a suitable course of treatments during your consultation. The number of treatments you will need will depend on your age, your skin condition, the severity of your condition and your lifestyle. Best results are achieved with a course of treatments. Your therapist will advise you as to whether top up treatments over a longer period of time may be required.
What Should I Do After Treatment?
Your therapist will apply a soothing gel where necessary after treatment as your skin may be slightly warm and pink. We recommend you use a sunscreen for a few weeks following treatment, and avoid tanning beds and sun exposure for at least 3 to 4 weeks. Your therapist will answer any questions you may have after you have been treated and will also advise you on a suitable skin care programme to enhance your skin tone and texture.
Can This Treatment Be Used With Other Therapies?
Yes, clients often have other treatments around the same time as having a VPL/IPL treatment. Always advise your therapist during your consultation about any other treatments you have recently received or are planning to have.
